I found out why this is called Dry Falls. While shooting this particular waterfall, in North Carolina, it started raining hard. I had walked from the car without a rain jacket, but that didn\’t pose to serious a problem for me and my camera. This waterfall flows from a shelf that overhangs the rest of the cliff on which it resides. By standing behind the waterfall, under the shelf, I remained out of the rain and almost completely dry. That is until I had to return to the car and leave the protective confines of the waterfall.

Too cool! Until you look twice and see the fence in the background, you don't appreciate the scale of these falls.
